ESN Tirana: A Safe Space Empowering Young Researchers to Shape Albania’s Future

In a time when youth participation in public life is more crucial than ever, ESN Tirana continues to stand out as a safe and empowering space for young researchers, students, and changemakers in Albania. Through its inclusive approach and commitment to civic engagement, the organization is helping shape a new generation of informed, active citizens ready to contribute to Albania’s democratic and European future.
This mission was recently highlighted in an interview with Lutjona Lula, President of ESN Tirana, published by the Czech outlet Deník N. In the interview, Lula discussed Albania’s current political and social landscape, the country’s EU integration process, and the importance of youth involvement in shaping national and regional policies.
“Young people are not just observers—they are actors in Albania’s transformation,” said Lula. “At ESN Tirana, we create space for them to research, speak up, and take part in public life with confidence and purpose.”
As Albania advances on its path toward EU membership, ESN Tirana plays a vital role in ensuring that youth are not left behind in the process. The organization actively promotes civic education, research-based advocacy, and intercultural dialogue, offering young people the tools and platforms they need to engage meaningfully in democratic life.
In parallel, ESN Tirana is currently conducting a youth perception survey, inviting young Albanians to share their views on key societal issues. The survey, open until May 31, is part of the organization’s broader effort to gather data that can inform youth-centered policies and programs. Access the survey here.
“We believe in evidence-based activism,” Lula added. “By listening to young people and amplifying their voices, we can build a more inclusive and forward-looking Albania.”
As a trusted youth-led organization, ESN Tirana continues to serve as a bridge between young researchers and public institutions, fostering a culture of participation, innovation, and accountability.
