ESN Tirana Contributes to Groundbreaking Mobility Dictionary for International Students

In a unique effort to bridge academic research with real-world student needs, ESN Tirana has joined forces with researchers across Europe as part of the ENIS COST Action to co-develop a comprehensive dictionary of mobility terminology tailored for international students.
The initiative, titled “Trajectories for Creating a Dictionary for International Students,” aims to clarify and standardize the language used in the context of student mobility—making it more accessible, inclusive, and practical for young people navigating international education systems. The project has recently been selected to appear in the Brill Showcase on Kudos, a platform that highlights impactful academic work with broad societal relevance.
We believe that language should empower, not exclude. By contributing to this dictionary, we’re helping ensure that mobility-related terms are not just academically accurate, but also understandable and useful for the students who live them.
As a youth-led organization deeply engaged in supporting international students in Albania, ESN Tirana brought a practitioner’s perspective to the project—ensuring that the terminology reflects the lived experiences of mobile students. Their involvement is part of a broader mission to connect science with practice, making academic outputs more relevant and actionable for young people.
The dictionary includes terms related to:
- Academic mobility and exchange programs
- Student rights and responsibilities
- Institutional structures and support systems
- Intercultural learning and inclusion
- Digital and hybrid mobility formats
This collaboration is a testament to ESN Tirana’s growing role not only in youth advocacy but also in shaping the academic discourse around mobility and inclusion. By contributing to this pioneering resource, the organization reinforces its commitment to making international education more transparent, equitable, and student-centered.
This is more than a glossary—it’s a tool for empowerment. We’re proud to be part of a project that helps students better understand the systems they’re part of and advocate for themselves more effectively.
